Itazura na Kiss is one of the new series out right now. It’s based on the manga series by the same name. For those in the asian drama scene, you might recognized this as the popular Taiwanese series called It started with a kiss (惡作劇之吻 / 恶作剧之吻 / E Zuo Ju Zhi Wen ), or the Japanese drama by the same name . The story follows the unforunate Kotoko Aihara, a senior high school girl. She wrote a letter to her love interest Naoki Irie, but was very quickly rejected. To make matters worst, on the same day a very small level 2 earth quake hit her neighborhood and cause her newly built house to be destroyed. An old friend of her father comes to the rescue and offers his home to Kotoko and her father. As fate would have it, the son of this old friend just happens to be Naoki Irei
The first thing that’s noticeable about this series is that the art style is old school. This is a story that’s been around for awhile now so this shouldn’t be a surprise. First episode isn’t much of a surprise, but the story seems to be picking up at a good pace. Another thing to note, is that this story actually has no ending, or better stated it has not official ending. The creator of the original story from the manga died before finishing the series at the age of 38. All other incarnation of the story may end differently and none are considered the offical ending of the series. It’s already uploaded so check out the forums.
